For many years I did not set foot in Pontianak. Two associations that may be most remembered about the capital of West Kalimantan is orange and the Kapuas River. Both deserve to be icons. Pontianak oranges taste sour-sweet characteristic with thin green skin. While the Kapuas is the longest river in Indonesia’s number one. It is said that this river had been filming locations “anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid”.

Pontianak is not only geographically divided by the river, but also the demographics of the tribes who lived in, both immigrants and native. Living here ethnic Malays, Chinese, Javanese, Bugis, and Padang. They blend in harmony and give color to the city paras.

If there’s one thing not many people know about Pontianak must be about the origin of its name. Pontianak derived from the word “kuntilanak”, a legendary female ghost in a horror film that Indonesia is characterized by long hair, white dress, and high-pitched laughter. By a handful of people in neighboring countries, the term “ghost pontianak” still in use today.

My first agenda was visited palace called the Palace Pontianak Kadariyah.

If you’re looking for destinations in Europe, Paris should be near the top of the list.

For sheer variety, there aren’t too many places that can beat Northern Arizona for landscape and beauty.

First of all, select a home base–a place to return to after driving around all day. The Northern Arizona sights are relatively close, but “relatively” still might mean a few hours drive. One of the best home bases is Sedona. It’s got quite collection of shops and restaurants, and also has Slide Rock, in Oak Creek Canyon, just a few minutes outside of Sedona.

There is always a chance that your flight will get cancelled or delayed regardless of when you fly. However, the holidays are a very busy time for airports and you don’t want to spend Christmas there instead of with your family. Be prepared for long lines at the check in desk and security. Even though you had better be at the airport two hours before your plane takes off during normal travel times, you will prefer to increase that up to three hours when you travel around the holidays.

Try to keep the amount of items you bring along to a lower limit. It will make checking in your baggage easier and prevent such items from being lost or damaged. If you are traveling for Christmas and you want to send gifts it is a good idea to mail them separately and they will be there when you arrive. If you do decide to pack them don’t wrap them as they are subject to being inspected. You can wrap the gifts when you reach your destination.
